  1. Dear Kerry and Paula,

Our names are Charlene and Mirella and we are two maths teachers from Perth.

We have recently started up a new business creating resources for parents to help their children with maths.

In our combined teaching experience in a variety of single sex and co-educational schools across Perth, we have often worked with students to help alleviate this test anxiety, and we’ve created a resource to help parents and students do just that.

Our aim is to aid parents in preparing their children for the new type of assessment when they start high school and to help their children develop the skills to cope better under pressure. The tests come complete with video solutions to help parents and children understand the work.

We believe that if children and parents work together in partnership and practise test preparation and test conditions at home from a young age, students then develop better resilience and better strategies for performing their best during assessments.

This resource is currently available for students in Year 6 through to Year 9. These papers might be useful for those students who have struggled to make the transition from primary to secondary school. Also, for younger students experiencing anxiety over studying in the senior school next year, these papers can be used to foster familiarity with assessments. We will have Year 10 tests available from the beginning of 2014.

We found your website really interesting and thought that families from both your online and school communities may be interested in our test resources. In particular parents of children starting high school next year who are looking to prepare their children for the changes.

We also did some work with a clinical psychologist who contributed to an article we wrote which you may find useful.
